The South River Fly Fishing Expo is a two-day event celebrating fly fishing on the South River and throughout Virginia. The Expo is hosted in April by Destination Downtown Waynesboro and features fly fishing presenters, fly tiers, local wines and brews, and local food trucks. Proceeds from the event are used to support Destination Downtown Waynesboro and habitat restoration on the South River. More information is available here.
The Sherando Lake Recreation Area lies within the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, and is one of the most popular recreation areas in the George Washington National Forest. The area includes 2 lakes with most of the recreational facilities lying between them. Sherando Lake is the lower and larger of the 2 lakes at 24 acres.
