Riverfest

Riverfest is a free annual event that takes place by the South River at Constitution Park in Waynesboro. Activities include Reptile World shows, Stream Safari, presentations by the Wildlife Center of Virginia, Fish and Fun Rodeo, Farmer's Market, canoe rides, kids arts & crafts, Stream electro-fishing with DGIF and is capped off by the Great South River Duck Race!

South River Fly Fishing Expo

The South River has become a very popular destination for fly anglers due to the great fly fishing opportunities and ease of access. The expo includes free beginner fly-casting lessons and hands-on experiences for kids.

Blue Ridge Classic Soapbox Derby

Waynesboro's own Soapbox Derby is a youth gravity racing program for boys and girls ages 7 through 20 years old. In May, the streets of downtown Waynesboro are closed off to allow the competitors to race down Main Street. It's a thrilling time for racers and spectators alike!

Xtremefest of the Blue Ridge

Get ready for all things adventurous at Xtremefest! Climb a rock wall, kayak the South River, bungee jump (well not quite...but close enough). Get a rush of adrenaline from trying something new and exciting! There is something for the whole family and it's free.

Summer Extravaganza

Music, rides, food, carnival games, and fireworks make the Summer Extravaganza one of the most popular events of the year, taking place in the beautiful Ridgeview Park.

Waynesboro Water Trail

Waynesboro offers a unique setting for paddlers since the leisurely South River winds right through the city. Our newly created Waynesboro Water Trail guide invites visitors and residents alike to enjoy this scenic waterway. Put in at Ridgeview Park and paddle the river for a four-mile run to Basic City Park, or shorten that journey by using one of the several access points along the way. You will experience a one-of-a-kind perspective on this charming city!

Wayne Theatre

Waynesboro's historic vaudeville theater just underwent a major renovation. Now it's playing host to national and regional acts that will delight all ages. It also offers an Arts Education Series specifically geared toward young children and theater workshops for those interested in the dramatic arts.

Ridgeview Park

A beautiful evergreen-lined lane at the south end of Magnolia Avenue welcomes you to this 85-acre park where benches line the bank of the South River which meanders through the park. Ridgeview Park offers something for everyone, from an extensive play structure for kids to tennis courts for adults to an outdoor pool for the whole family.

Fox Disc Golf Course

Try your hand at disc golf in this wooded course at Coyner Springs Park. Participants try to land flying discs in the metal baskets dotting the course. If the challenge proves too great, just enjoy a nature walk around the spacious meadow.

Fastrax

In the summertime, Fastrax opens up its go-cart tracks and lets kids test their driving skills. A putt-putt course, indoor batting cages, and arcade games make this stop as fun as a carnival.

Ice Cream

Hey parents, every kid wants to conclude their excursion with ice cream! Waynesboro offers two favorite ice cream stands: Willy's at 2800 W. Main Street and Kline's at 1235 W. Main Street. Both offer outdoor seating areas and flavors that change weekly.
