  5. Dirty Barbie and Other Girlhood Tales

    June 22, 2018, 8:00 PM @ Wayne Theatre

In 1978, a mother, newly widowed, moved herself and her four children from the wide open spaces of Wyoming to a tiny town in North Carolina. Misbehaving ensued. Over thirty years later, DeeDee Stewart began writing about her childhood – and her MOTHER. Putting the “fun” back in “dysfunctional”, spinning tales on scarlet fever, scotch over ice and girls gone wild, DeeDee Stewart takes the audience on an unforgettable ride through the 70s, 80s and 90s. A coming-of-age story that redefines what it means to be an all-American girl. Using photos, dance, music and considerable comedic skill, DeeDee Stewart moves back and forth through stories such as “How Southern Women Saved My Life”, “Dirty Barbie” and “Confessions of a Mean Girl” to scenes such as a tour through her spooky childhood home and the unusual way that she won the Pep Club candy contest. Rated PG-16
